klass-chita.ru [ Kindle ePUB / Pdf ] The Secret Adversary, with eBook (Tantor Unabridged Classics) – Kindle ePUB, TXT & PDF Download Almost unreadable. What it looks like is a translation from German into English by a translator who doesn't know English language from a hole in the ground. I guess it could be someone's highly educated idea of a practical joke.
How about sending me something I can read. This is how the start of the Prologue reads: IT turned into 2 p. M.

klass-chita.ru [ Kindle ePUB / Pdf ] The Secret Adversary, with eBook (Tantor Unabridged Classics) – Kindle ePUB, TXT & PDF Download This is not Agatha Christie's text. It appears that someone ran a non English language translation back through Google Translate or other translation software. The idiom, diction, and grammar are badly mangled. For example:

Summary The Secret Adversary, with eBook (Tantor Unabridged Classics) ✓ E-book, or Kindle E-pub Imited is a brand new private detective agency set up by the dashing Tommy Beresford and the resourceful Tuppence Cowley Their first assignment is to track down some secret documents t. Tuppence and Tommy are dear friends who are in love but not talking about it looking for a means of making money They have few skills but much enthusiasm and so decide to put themselves out for whatever jobs come along the first of which being a missing persons caseI have to say I was surprised by this one Having read Agatha Christie s first novel The Mysterious Affair at Styles just about a month ago and having decided to read everything she ever wrote based on that first novel I found The Secret Adversary rather amateurishI promise that is not a word I throw around lightlySadly this work reads like a first novel Rather too many instances of some expression as the character liked to say For example She had not the faintest comprehension of his meaning but she was naturally uick witted and felt it imperative to keep her end up as she phrased it From Chapter II Mr Whittington s Offer The Secret Adversary by Agatha ChristieThe character never uses that phrase againIt lacks the clear crisp execution of a Poirot and is missing the charisma I d so uickly grown to expect There s lots of repetition and an impossible number of characters to keep track ofI suspect I wouldn t have cared much for this story in any case but there were a good number of formatting errors which really didn t help In many places the back and forth between two characters took place in the same paragraph which was hard on the eye and made it tricky to remember who was talking especially in scenes containing than two characters and yet so when whoever was responding was referred to as the other Which was all the timeThere were also missing spaces between words one of which truly stopped me in my tracks Heusheredthemintoaroomatthebackofthehousefurnished as a library From Chapter XII A Friend In Need The Secret Adversary by Agatha ChristieAlthough I do plan to continue on my uest to read every Christie ever printed this one wasn t for me A shame though I have no doubt there s better to come Does make me wonder if she went back and rewrote The Mysterious Affair at Styles when her writing was self assured

Summary The Secret Adversary, with eBook (Tantor Unabridged Classics) ✓ E-book, or Kindle E-pub Some secret plans have survived the sinking of the Lusitania and amateur sleuths Tommy and Tuppence are on the trail of international spies in order to recover them Young Adventurers L. I am hosting an Agatha Christie Readathon on my blog in April 2018 where we are reading one of her books each week The first book up The Secret Adversary is the initial entry in the Tommy Tuppence cozy mystery series she s written Although I ve read a bunch of her novels I hadn t read anything in this particular series so I was glad that one of them won the poll to choose our books that I had set up earlier this yearIn this caper Tommy and Tuppence 22 year old somewhat poor residents of London around 1920 are bored enough to form a partnership where they will agree to do anything legal to obtain a salary Tuppence wants to marry rich Tommy doesn t care You kinda know they have to end up together right A mysterious man overhears their conversation and asks them for help in finding Jane Finn who disappeared when the Lusitania sank nearly five years earlier She was given a very important government paper by a pseudo spy who died in the tragedy but Jane seems to have lost her memory No one can find her but there are several ne er to do wells and government spies searching for her Though WW1 is over now if anyone finds out what was written in the papers it might just ignite another battle Tommy Tuppence take the case but soon find themselves baffled by all the different stories they hear When they separate to get done each is kidnapped and nearly killed for knowing nothing but really knowing something Then Jane s American cousin helps with the search and leads are finally flooding in around them Now the little sleuthing pair are on their own and unable to determine who s telling the truth Think you can I actually solved this oneChristie is remarkable when it comes to creating suspense intrigue and drama in her books Although the story started off a tad peculiar to me I slowly became fascinated by how different things were nearly 100 years ago Between the phrases used to describe people the uick allegiance people swore to one another and the methods for doing research it was outstanding Sometimes I laughed at their silly tactics others I thought they made no sense But it was a different time and place and under those contexts it actually made perfect senseTommy Tuppence themselves are also weird They speak in terms of puzzles but seem to understand one another They wish for things they don t need but join forces in a venture that initially makes no sense I was worried even thought did I make a mistake giving this book a chance But I knew how much people adored them so I pushed forward and by about 20% in the book takes on a much standard mystery and suspense toneThe ending was very well written The plot is thorough but leaves a lot to the imagination Do we really ever find out what s written in the government documents Do we know exactly who kidnapped each of the sleuths Do we know whether every character was purely good or evil Not really there is a bit of vagueness going on but it doesn t hurt the story Readers will than likely fall in love with the duo get caught up in determining which is the true bad guy and grow puzzled in trying to decide which information to trust and which information is just a red herringIt s fun to read these capers It s less about the language and about the approach to solving a crime So sit back and relax let the author dazzle you with her story and let go of the normal constructs you expect in a mystery novel I m going with 4 stars on this one as I d than recommend it but there were some things I felt could have been handled better That said I look forward to reading in the Tommy Tuppence series but that will have to wait Next week s book is from the Hercule Poirot collection Join us if you can

Summary The Secret Adversary, with eBook (Tantor Unabridged Classics) ✓ E-book, or Kindle E-pub Hat disappeared after the sinking of the Lusitania Soon they are on the trail of the mysterious Mr Brown the head of an international gang of crooks and in danger than they bargained f. Purist Christie fans have a low opinion of Tommy and Tuppence but probably miss the point Yes the books are lighter mysteries but show a fun side to Christie and allowed her to escape from the serious elements A bit like the chimney s duo these are less complicated mysteries easy to get into with a great element of fun I have read them all several times as I have many of the main line books and find they leave a feel good factor behind and can see why Tommy and Tuppence were her favourite characters And don t forget she wrote romances to under her pseudonym Mary Westmacott For anyone who has found Poirot difficult give these a try
